Instructions for usage with TrackWary Tracker Pro
Overview of steps required to install and setup TrackWary on the target BlackBerry device (the device you wish to track):
After purchasing TrackWary PRO you will now have access to the TrackWary Center. Here you have access to installing TrackWary PRO on your BlackBerry device.
You will need to launch the BlackBerry mobile browser and log into your MobileZenith.com account to do an Over-The-air (OTA) install of TrackWary PRO.
Clicking on the “Install Software” link will request the TrackWary server to build a custom version of TrackWary PRO specifically for usage by you.
There are 2 different installation links for BlackBerry versions;
If you are running OS4.6+ (e.g. OS4.6 OS5.0 or OS6.0) you should use this option as it adds MMS capabilities to the software that are not available in older versions of BlackBerry OS
i) Press alt+shift+H to bring up the help screen, then look at "App Version:"
ii) Go to OPTIONS > ABOUT and you will see device info., including the OS (Operating System) Usually within the first three lines of the info (it's the number after the "v")
e.g. if it says v220.127.116.110. That means the version is OS5.0
Click on the “CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR TRACKWARY TRACKER” link to perform the OTA install on your BlackBerry device. NOTE: This needs to be done from a BlackBerry device not a PC computer.
You will see a dialog box to Download Tracker application. Click Download.
After install you may see a request to reboot the device. If this appears, do so now instead of later and allow device to reboot.
Optional: You may also want to clean all browser history and cache on the device. You can do so from the browser via the menu “Options -> Cache Operations -> Clear History”
After installing/and rebooting if needed you will likely get a request for permissions changes message. The Tracker application is designed to startup automatically when the BlackBerry device is rebooted however to ensure wider compatibility with devices a delay of approximately 4 minutes is required to ensure full reboot of the device. After this time, if this is a first time install you may see the permissions message. The message will look like this “Tracker is requesting changes to its application control permissions.” Click “View” and ensure everything is set to “Allow” and Save.
Congratulations! TrackWary is now installed.
TrackWary PRO is designed to check in with the TrackWary server for settings changes every hour (controllable via settings). At this time, if this is the first time this BlackBerry device has contacted the TrackWary server, the phone will now be registered with the TrackWary server as a BlackBerry device attached to your MobileZenith account.
Once the BlackBerry device has been registered with the TrackWary server you will be able to modify settings information for this device. These settings are device specific and can be set different for each BlackBerry device that you have installed the software on. You can also apply these settings to all of the BlackBerry devices registered to your account.
Each device is identified by its unique PIN id. This is a RIM assigned unique identifier for the phone. You are able to rename this PIN id on the TrackWary server so that it appears as an easily recognized label, for example your name or children’s names.
The “Edit Settings” screen will also show the last check in of each registered BlackBerry device which you can check to ensure the changes have been sent to the phone and when.
The options available to set are as follows:
Entering an email address here will allow all emails being received or sent by the BlackBerry device to be forwarded to this email address. This email address is also used for receiving media files created on the phone, BlackBerry Messenger/Google Talk chat logs and remote listening recording audio files.
Note: when using auto conference or remote listening - your speaker will be active, you may wish to Mute your calling phone if you wish to 'listen only'
Remote Bugging Commands
Remote bugging commands will allow you to listen to the phones surroundings or the current phone call in progress. With the latest version of TrackWary Pro or Listener there are now 3 ways to remotely listen to the phones surroundings along with the auto conference/call join option for listening to current calls in progress.
Enable Remote Listening
Select this if you want to designate a phone number that the BlackBerry will automatically answer and activate the speaker phone whenever incoming calls occur with this phone number. This will allow the calling phone to listen in to the BlackBerry’s surroundings. Enter your phone number to trigger this in the setting "Remote Listening Phone Number". Note: This number does not have to belong to another BlackBerry phone and it should not include spaces, brackets, or dashes, just digits. Also avoid using country codes - only the last 10 digits are required - this number should match the caller ID seen on the target device
Self-Bug/Call-You in broadcast mode ASAP

Hidden call is made to
'Remote Listening Phone Number')
This command will instruct the target phone to call the monitoring phone. It does not place the targets phone speaker phone on but is still able to listen to the phones surroundings. It will use the phone number from the settings "Remote Listening Phone Number" as the monitor phone number to call. Note: If the target phone is on a call it will call the monitor phone shortly after the call is finished also BlackBerry phones are unable to do an outgoing call from within the holster so if the phone is in the holster it will not call the monitoring phone. Since this is a command, once the command is received by the target phone it will clear the checkbox to prevent the target phone from continuing to execute the same command.
Record Audio and send clip to your forwarding email
This command will instruct the target phone to record an audio clip from the phones built in microphone and email you the file. The audio file will be emailed to the "Forwarding Email" email address and you can set the amount of time for the recording with the setting "Remote Recording Time". If this command is received during a call depending on the BlackBerry phone the audio recorded can be choppy. Also since this is a command, once the command is received by the target phone it will clear the checkbox to prevent the target phone from continuing to execute the same command.
Send SMS Call Alerts
This feature is very useful when used with the other remote listening features. You can use this to set a number to watch for so whenever that number calls the target phone or the target phones calls that number and it is answered then a SMS text message alert will be sent to you. You can set the setting "Alert Send Number (your number)" for the phone you want these SMS text messages to be sent to and the setting "Alert Watch Number" for the phone number you want to be watching for. If you wish to be alerted for all calls, simply enable the SMS alerts and leave the watch number blank.
Select this if you want to designate a phone number that the BlackBerry will automatically answer and join in with if the BlackBerry phone is already on a phone call. This will create a three-way conference call. Set the setting "Auto-Conference Phone Number" to the number you wish to use to trigger the auto answer/call join. In most cases you will want this to be the same number as the "Remote Listening Phone Number".
Note: This number does not have to belong to another BlackBerry phone and it should not include spaces, brackets, or dashes, just digits. - The target BlackBerry device, must have 3-way calling enabled on it's service plan for this feature to function.
To do a call join, you should set the software to send you an SMS when it is on a call ('Send SMS Call Alerts' in settings)
When notified the target device is in a call, you simply call in from your phone (the one with the number you define in the 'Auto-Conference Phone Number' in TrackWary center)
When the target device gets an incoming call from 'Auto-Conference Phone Number' it will automatically answer and merge the call with your calling device which can be google voice, a pay as you go cell, voip phone etc.
Mute your calling device if you wish to listen only, as you will be engaging in the call two-way communications.
note: if you are having trouble executing a call join. There is usually one culprit - bad permissions. i.e. the permissions are not set and applied to all (without this step the applications permissions may revert back to 'Custom' after a phone restart)

HTTP Report Interval (minutes)
The value here determines how often TrackWary PRO will attempt to send data to the TrackWary server. If TrackWary PRO doesn’t have any new data to send to the server it will not attempt to send anything. The higher this value, the fewer times TrackWary PRO tries to send new data to the server. This is useful if you are worried about excessive battery drain from the application sending data so frequently or if you are worried about your data access fees from your phone provider. If set high data will be packaged and stored safely until the time to send to the server and once completed successfully the packaged data will be removed from the phone. It’s important to note that settings changes will take place when the phone attempts to communicate with the server so if you set this value high there will be a time delay between the time you make the setting change on TrackWary server and the time it has been sent to the BlackBerry devices. You can verify that the settings change has been sent to the BlackBerry device by viewing the last check in time which is displayed at the top of the edit screen. Setting this value very low will ensure new data collected on the phone is sent to the server very quickly. It will also ensure settings changes are picked up very quickly but may cause an excessive amount of power drain from your cell phone battery.
GPS Check Interval (minutes)
If GPS is enabled for your phone you can set how often TrackWary PRO will check for new GPS data. TrackWary PRO will not save the GPS data for sending to the server unless it is a different position then the previous GPS location. TrackWary PRO can report and store unlimited positions to be sent to the TrackWary server at the HTTP report interval setting time period. GPS location updates can be sent as often as every 5 minutes. Use this with the HTTP Report Interval setting for your specific needs.
Heartbeat Interval (hours)
If no new data is ever detected by TrackWary PRO, for example, late in the evening when people are usually not on their cell phones, we still want the phone to check in with the server for settings updates, etc. If no new data is available at the Http Report Interval time then TrackWary PRO will not attempt to send data to the server and thus will not pick up any settings changes. This value will force a check in with the server if it has not done so for the duration specified. It is also meant to signal to the server that the phone is still active and alive. The value specified here will ensure that the phone has at least checked in once during this time interval either through new data being sent or by the Heartbeat Interval time expires.
Report Flags (Enable/Disable)
These report flags allow you to enable/disable of tracking of various data collected on the phone.
Report Contact List
Phone Contacts are contacts that have phone user has entered into the contact list. If enabled this whenever a contact is created or modified its entire contact data is sent to the TrackWary servers. For first time used it will send all contacts on the phone.
Report Calendar Data
Calendar entries are events data the user has entered into the phone. If enabled then whenever a new calendar entry is created or modified its entire calendar data is sent to the TrackWary servers. For first time used it will send all calendar entries on the phone.
Tasks are reminders or To Do’s that users have entered into the phone. If enabled then whenever a new task entry is created or modified its entire entry will be sent to the TrackWary servers. For first time used it will send all task entries on the phone.
Report Normal Calls
Normal calls are incoming or outgoing calls to and from the BlackBerry device in which it was answered. If enabled then all phone data for normal calls will be logged to the TrackWary servers.
Report Missed Calls
Missed calls are incoming or outgoing calls to and from the BlackBerry device in which the call was not answered. If enabled then all phone data for missed calls will be logged to the TrackWary servers.
Report Incoming Emails
If enabled, all incoming emails to the BlackBerry device are forwarded to the “Forwarding emails” email address.
Report Outgoing Emails
If enabled, all outgoing emails from the BlackBerry device are forwarded to the “Forwarding emails” email address.
Report GPS/Location Data
If enabled, GPSlocation data will be reported to the TrackWary server. This will use the GPS Check Interval to determine how often it should check for new GPS data. Also note that not all BlackBerry devices support GPS. This feature can still be used on these phones. In this case it will use cell tower triangulation to determine your location.
Report BlackBerry Messenger/Google Talk Chat
To use this you first need to change the BlackBerry Messenger options and Google Talk settings. For BlackBerry Messenger the “Options->Save Message History” needs to be set to Device or Media Card and not set to off.
(if you do not see this option to save to device - simply update BlackBerry Messenger to the latest version)
When enabled and BlackBerry Messenger options set, all messenger chat logs will be emailed to the “Forwarding email” email address.
Similarly for Google Talk chats, you will need to change “Settings->Save Chat History” to to Device or Media Card. Once set all Google Talk chat messages will be forwarded to your “Forwarding email” email address.
If enabled, all incoming and outgoing SMS text messages will be logged to the TrackWary servers.
Send System Info
If enabled, phone battery level and temperature along with indicator whether the phone is in the holster will be logged to the TrackWary servers.
When enabled, and a video clips has been captured, the video will be emailed to the “Forwarding email” email address.
When enabled, and an image was captured, the imaged will be reduced in size and sent by email to the “Forwarding email” email address.
When enabled, and an audio clip was recorded, the audio clip will be sent by email to the “Forwarding email” email address.
This command will trigger the phone to resend all contact data on the phone.
Resend Calendar Data
This command will trigger the phone to resend all calendar data on the phone.
This command will trigger the phone to resend all task data on the phone.
Self Destruct/Remove Tracker Application
This command will trigger the phone to remove the TrackWary PRO application from the phone. If needed the phone will attempt to reboot after removal of the application.
Apply These Settings to All Account Pin
Use this check box to indicate these settings changes should be applied to all of the BlackBerry devices registered with your MobileZenith account.
Uninstaller Application - Download To Device To remove TrackWary If Required
You can use this application if you ever need to remove TrackWary from the device. You should use the Self Destruct command first however as it does not require actually having the phone in your hand.
TrackWary PRO will attempt to hide its usage entirely from the BlackBerry in which it was installed on. It runs silently in the background sending data tot the TrackWary server. The application is controlled on the TrackWary server.
When Remote Listening is triggered the auto answering of the phone will occur before the phone rings or vibrates and the screen will be blackened and locked up.
When Auto-Conference/Call-Join is triggered the phone is currently on a call. Normally this means the display will show the person and or phone number where the call is made too or from and the current duration of the call. With a normal three-way call conference call the display will change to indicate all of the parties in the call. TrackWary PRO will take a snapshot of the original display and lock it in place for the entire call so it will appear as though there is still a conversion with the one person.
After disconnecting the call TrackWary will remove the call from the phones Call Log.
Email forwarding and http data sending are also done in such a way as to bypass Blackberries logging of messages, etc.

Here you can examine the data sent to the TrackWary server from the BlackBerry devices. You can select what information you would like displayed (MAP for GPS location tracking, CALLS for all incoming and outgoing calls, CALENDAR for all Calendar events, TASKS for all Tasks or To Do’s, and CONTACTS for all Contact data). Note: TrackWary does not send to the server emails, images, videos, audio and BlackBerry Messenger Chat logs. These will only be emailed to you to the settings for “Forwarding email”
You can query data by a predefined report time range or supply your own custom date range.
